Researchers at St. Joe’s and McMaster have been awarded two CIHR grants to support their work in ICU rehabilitation.
The first grant, valued at $15,000, will be used to summarize CIHR-funded interdisciplinary preparatory work from three pilot studies. Ultimately, it will inform the launch of a multi-centre, international randomized clinical trial of in-bed cycling with critically ill, mechanically ventilated patients.
The second grant, valued at $25,000, aims to accelerate the knowledge translation of the team’s primary research; improve mobility and enhance active living through complex rehabilitation interventions from ICU to the community, and include stakeholders across Canada to advance the applied methodology of process evaluations in critical care and rehabilitation.

Congratulations to our researchers from the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and the CYCLE team, led by Dr. Michelle Kho!
