Since 2014, The Research Institute of St. Joe’s Hamilton has been an autonomous legal entity responsible for the oversight and conduct of all research performed at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. This includes the administration of all financial accounts, contracts, training, and other areas of research.

Any researcher acting as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Local Principal Investigator (LPI) on a study conducted at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton must be affiliated with The Research Institute.

Categories

All research-related accounts at St. Joe’s must be opened through The Research Institute. In order to open a research account, you must first submit the documentation required to become an affiliate.

Once affiliated, the investigator is able to conduct their research and access the services offered by The Research Institute based on their affiliation category. Services include information technology, human resources, finance, contract review, quality assurance, public relations, and more.

There are 3 affiliation categories: Affiliate, Endorsed Affiliate, and Associate. See the Affiliation Privileges by Category PDF for a breakdown of the privileges available for each category.
