St. Joe's Innovation Programs

The Clinic @ St Joe’s brings together students, staff, faculty, and entrepreneurs to explore innovative ideas with the potential to change the face of health care.

As part of McMaster University’s The Clinic @ Mac, The Clinic @ St. Joe’s supports the Learning and Leading Pillars of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton's Strategic Plan, alongside The Research Institute of St. Joe’s Hamilton and St. Joe's Department of Education and Learning. Located in the Sherman Library on second floor of the Juravinski Innovation Tower, we offer entrepreneurial programming that creates culture, resources, and opportunity for all of the St. Joe’s Community.

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and The Research Institute of St. Joe’s have partnered with the W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology at McMaster University to advance solutions to real world challenges in the field of healthcare.

Our collaborative enables individuals from the W Booth School (students, faculty, and staff) and members of the St. Joe's community (including patients, families, and advocates) to work together on projects at the intersection of engineering and healthcare. The aim is to drive innovation in healthcare while educating a new cohort of engineers with specialized skills, knowledge, and insights.

Through collaboration and innovation, St. Joseph’s Department of Education & Learning seamlessly integrates with the St. Joseph’s Health System fostering a dynamic learning culture. We lead high-quality educational initiatives and leverage innovative technology for a superior learner experience. Our commitment drives the development, implementation, and sustainability of a positive and equitable learning environment, resonating with our academic health care system partners. Our purpose is to create and deliver exceptional learning experiences and advance patient care and healthcare system of the future. Centre for Education, Learning & Simulation (CELS)

 CELS is an interactive learning and simulation centre provides inclusivity inside of the hybrid learner experience. CELS hosts state-of-the-art technology for onsite and virtual simulations in both a work and/or classroom environment. We lead high-quality educational initiatives and leverage innovative technology for a superior learner experience. The technology can capture large educational sessions to break out rooms to virtual education. CELS host learners, educators, SJHH partners, SJHS network, and external partnerships. SJHH has over 5,500 staff and 4,000 learners annually that have access to the learning capabilities and capacity of CELS. Our commitment drives the development, implementation, and sustainability of a positive and equitable learning environment resonating with our academic and healthcare system partners.

St. Joseph Healthcare Education & Research (SERC)

SERC is an educational research centre which supports educational research. SERC hosts an academic scientist, methodologist, and statistician to support learners and staff with projects, grants, and publications. SERC provides learners with an exceptional educational research environment and opportunities for cross-system educational research. SERC also supports education through Educational Scholarships and Awards. In 2024, SERC awarded it’s first Scholarship.
