St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, and The Research Institute of St. Joe's Hamilton were saddened to learn of the passing of David Braley. He was a brilliant business man, a passionate advocate for the City of Hamilton, a former owner of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, a key force behind the Toronto 2015 Pan-Am Games, and a generous supporter of education, healthcare, and the arts in our region.

Right here at St. Joe’s, Mr. Braley’s philanthropy has left indelible marks on our Hospital. Through his philanthropy over the past 20 years, Mr. Braley and Ms. Gordon have helped to renew our Kidney & Urinary Inpatient Unit, build the David Braley & Nancy Gordon Surgical Wing, while also being avid supporters of healthcare research.

The City of Hamilton has greatly benefitted from Mr. Braley's kindness - his contributions to health science at McMaster University have helped to further develop Hamilton as a city of innovative research and discovery.

We are indebted to Mr. Braley, not only for his generosity, but for his desire to put Hamilton on the world stage by supporting projects and organizations that would have a long-term impact, both locally and globally. We extend our sincere condolences to his family.
