Speaker: Dr. PJ Devereaux, MD, PhD; Professor, Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact; Medicine; Cardiology

Description: The Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Consortium was recently received $39 Million in CIHR funding.  The central guiding principle of the ACT Consortium is that our activities will accelerate, optimize, and facilitate the conduct, implementation, and results translation from high-quality, high-impact RCTs to improve health in Canada and around the world.

The ACT structure consists of a platform of 11 clinical trial units, geographically located across the country, with the base infrastructure and personnel to run RCTs.  On top of this platform are pillars consisting of 28 networks of researchers focused on disease states, patient populations, and interventions.  Cross-cutting enables traverse the networks and will develop approaches to optimize and facilitate RCTs.  Finally, our knowledge mobilization group will ensure the implementation of our trial results.

Dr. Devereaux will discuss the objectives, structure, and plans of the ACT Consortium during his presentation.
