The American Psychological Association (APA) has awarded Dr. James MacKillop with their prestigious Award for Distinguished Scientific Early Career Contributions to Psychology.

Dr. MacKillop currently serves as the Peter Boris Chair in Addictions Research and Director of the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions Research at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. As an internationally-renowned addiction specialist, his research focuses on not only testing new treatments for addictions, but on using unique research environments that aim to bridge the laboratory environment with the real world.

With a growing body of work that is transforming the way in which addictions are understood and treated, Dr. MacKillop’s award recognizes his leadership in the area of addiction research on an international scale.

We congratulate Dr. MacKillop on his award, and we hope that his ground-breaking research continues to transform the lives of those affected with addictions in our community and around the world.
